Foot Reflexology massage therapy can be a deeply therapeutic and relaxing modality for those suffering with pain from tendonitis, plantar fasciitis and injuries. Additionally it not only helps relieve foot, toe and ankle pain along with common forms of arthritis, but also decreases stress and anxiety throughout the entire body.
Foot reflexology is an acupressure massage technique that stimulates the reflex points in the feet that is based upon the meridian lines in Chinese acupuncture (maps that represent the whole body believed to exist on the feet, hands and ears). Different from western massage therapy, foot reflexology assesses tension and stress cues within the feet that indicate areas of stress within the body and uses relaxing and gentle touch techniques to rejuvenate and calm each and every part.
At the Grove Healing & Wellness Center we practice the Original Ingham Method® of foot reflexology, an acupressure massage therapy technique developed in the 1930’s as for drug free pain control. By applying pressure to the acupressure points in the feet using a gentle, pulsing ‘thumb walking’ technique the associated bodily region can be stimulated, allowing the self-healing mechanisms of the body to restore and optimize health and ease pain.
